Professional music tutor for piano, flute and music theory.

 CONTACT ME

I am a qualified secondary-school teacher and holder of the London College of Music ALCM Teaching Diploma.  I became a self-employed music teacher in 2003 and have since taught a variety of students, aged 6 to 83.

Lessons are held online via Zoom or Teams, daytime and evenings. I offer tuition in piano, flute and music theory  Instrumental lessons are conducted on a 1-1 basis, whilst music theory can be taught in small groups, subject to availability.

There is no obligation for students to sit official examinations, but most do so, and enjoy the challenge of progressing through the various levels, and the satisfaction of receiving a certificate to mark their achievement.  Many students have been entered for exams in each of piano, flute and music theory, with an excellent success rate.

Lessons are conducted in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere to give students the confidence to perform well and progress quickly.  I endeavour to supplement the main lesson books with pieces to cater for students' individual tastes and encourage the playing of duets both in the lesson and in the home environment, where feasible.  Students are provided with a free Practice Record book and are therefore aware of the importance of regular practice between lessons to maximise their progress.

My students range from children of 6 or 7 years of age to older beginners who have not had the opportunity to learn previously, and those who had lessons as children and are returning after a break of as many as 30 years - all are welcome!
